Operates and checks the day to operation of fielded databases. Performs system checks, backup, recovery, and load analysis. Must be able to build or rebuild replication scheme. Troubleshoots systems with other operations functions and application developers when required.

Responsible for designing, planning, implementing and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation.
  1. Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases.
  2. Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
  3. Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
  4. Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.
  5. Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.
  6. Tests designed applications.
  7. Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.
  8. Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.
  9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  10. Participates in special projects as required.
  11. Document all databases, triggers, procedures, SQL Agents, and standard operating procedures which apply to your area of responsibility.
  12. Participate in the local configuration control board for issues related to responsibilities.
  13. Identify areas where database functionality can provide a more efficient means of performing work.
  14. Train users as required on how to use the database systems.
  15. Install any database front-end systems and provide user training as needed.
  16. Maintain compliance of AOG systems IAW DoD and Army regulations and directives
  17. Track work orders, incident reports, and terminal tasks for progress and or changes.
  18. Perform periodic system vulnerability scans.
  19. Troubleshoot users issues via telephone and remote desktop protocols.
  20. Maintain an awareness of developing information technologies and identify any areas which could impact mission.
  • 2-5 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
  • Ability to understand complex applications and interfaces Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)
  • Understanding of Army G2 ASID is a plus
  • Strong Oral and Written skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position (e.g. information systems, computer science, math, or engineering). An additional four years of relevant technical experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Candidate must meet 8570.1M requirements (Security+ CE Certification)
  • ITIL v3 Certification
  • Computer Environment Certification in the related field of Database Administration (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, etc). A Microsoft certification in SQL is required.
