Certified Electrician Level 2

Designs and installs power distribution lines within facilities and to equipment racks. Installs, tests, and maintains conduit, junction boxes, power-filtering equipment, power monitoring equipment, UPS systems, redundant and backup systems. 

The Level 2 Certified Electrician shall possess the following capabilities:
  • Perform successfully at the entry/developmental level through appropriate formal training, actual on-the-job experience or both
  • Apply fundamental skills and concepts using established procedures and standard practices to work problems or limited scope based on detailed instructions from the supervisor or instructor
  • Has knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures commonly used within the field
  • Lay out, assemble, repair, maintain, connect, and test electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and wiring for the generation, distribution or utilization of electric energy
  • Plan and install panel boards, switch boxes, and other related devices
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits and other kinds of electrical conductor enclosures
  • Test the installed and existing equipment and electrical systems to ensure proper and safe functionality
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment
  • Work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
  • Use a variety of electrician’s tools and measuring and testing instruments   
  • Obtain proper permits as required by law to carry out electrical work on construction projects
  • Read, employ, and update electrical panel schedules and building or system blueprints and schematics
  • Study blueprints and schematics and determine methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete the assignment
  • Supervise apprentices and oversee journeymen who do the electrical work
  • Test installations to check and insure continuity of the circuit, and the compatibility and safety of all components using test equipment
  • Connect wires to plugs, switches, controls, motors, breaker panels and switchboards
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, junction, switch, outlet boxes, and switch boards    

Requirements:
  • Possess a valid Master Electrician License issued by the state (or have reciprocity rights) where work is to be performed.
